Bob Popovics – Montauk Bass
Bob Popovics posted this morning memories from his September 2, 2008 fishing trip to Montauk, New York where the striped bass were going crazy. Steve Farrar is the fisherman on the boat and the designer of the infamous SF Blend of synthetic streamer material.
Bob says, “Very few boats or fishermen for a day or two till the word got out. Still summer as the mount and cliffs are very green. Captain Paul Dixon at the helm, AND underwater camera. Steve Farrar fisherman.”

El Vato Caddis
A low-riding dry fly caddis imitation that is perfect for targeting picky fish. This pattern is best fished in the evening in riffles or slow moving flat water. Developed to fish the Lower Sacramento River, this is the perfect answer to fish that are turning way from flies that ride too high to succeed in imitating the real thing.
Hook: Daiichi 1130
Thread: Veevus 50d
Tail: Micro Pearl Core Braid
Float: 2mm Foam – Brown

The Imposter – Gunnar Brammer
Gunnar gives a detailed step by step explanation on how to tie his Impostor pike fly.
Gunnar had this to say about his new streamer. “This fly is a synthetic based flashabou/stacked fiber fly hybrid, designed to cut water and behave like a jerk bait. It comes in at 8.5″, is tied on an Ahrex 4/0 Light Predator Stinger (barbless), and is a perfect size fly for Pike, Smallmouth, and Big Trout!”

Lanes Laire – Rockin’ For Vets! Generosity Campaign Concert
Lanes Laire is performing a special one-night only concert on Sunday, Nov. 13th at CA. State University Northridge (CSUN). A portion of the proceeds are being donated to Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing and the veterans we serve.
Lanes Laire is a classic/progressive rock artist based out of Sedona, AZ & Boise ID. He recently released a music video for his single “Pleasures Of War” which not only talks about war itself, but touches on the aftermath. This really got Lanes thinking about the men & women who serve in our military and how many are cast to the wayside, especially those who suffer physically and mentally.
On Sunday, November 13th he will be in Los Angeles doing a one-night only concert at CSUN (Ca. State University Northridge). They will be playing their critically acclaimed album Resurrection Of Black in its entirety, as well as a few other surprises. Since it’s Veteran’s Day weekend (Veteran’s Day being Friday Nov. 11th), he’s decided to do something very special….time to give something back.
They are going to donate a portion of the proceeds from the concert and from this campaign to Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, a wonderful and unique veterans charity organization. They are dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and disabled veterans through fly fishing and associated activities including education and outings. They have been outstanding in helping vets with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) as well.
They will also donate half of all the money raised on their Generosity campaign to Project Healing Waters. Let’s not only reach, but surpass the $15,000.00 goal! They have set up some really cool Donation Levels so check them out, and get your tickets, by visiting Lanes Laire Rockin’ for Vets!
