From Gunnar:
“Over the past few years I’ve loved tying and fishing Bucktail flies – classics such as Bob Popovics’ BTD and Bulkhead are some of my all time favorite flies. These flies however, are tied traditionally on Short Shank hooks and when swung often result in misses from fish. Having never seen a Bucktail fly tied in a Swing style, I wanted to create just that. A Bucktail Fly tied shank/stinger for proper “down and across” presentations.”
“Because the fly is structured solely from bucktail, the fly needs to be tied in a 3D style Fly Format with Long stabilizer wing up top and short/sparse Bucktail Wings for the belly. It is this interplay with the bucktail wings – their length, density, and flair that control the orientation of the fly as is something I hope the video is able to emphasize and drive home.”
