Bullethead Moose Salmonfly by Troy Allgood

I’ve always felt that these flies are called salmonflies because of their color, but most patterns I’ve seen are more orange. This fly started out life as an L.C. Moose, a pattern developed by two dentists here…I like the low riding characteristics of bullet-headed flies, and put one on this pattern. I still carry the original version, with several dun hackles at the front of the fly, for when the fish want something higher on the surface.

Hook: Tiemco 200 R
Thread: Grey
Tail: Moose Body Hair
Body hackle: Dun
Abdomen: Fluorescent orange thread
Wing: Moose body hair
Legs: Black round rubber
Bullethead and collar: Deer hair
