Fly Tying of Pasi Järvinen

Pasi Järvinen

I wanted to highlight the fly tying of Pasi because I’ve noticed his tying for several years. He just recently won the J.Stockard Fly Tying Contest with his Gammarus bug. Many tyers know him as @back_to_the_stream on Instagram. So be sure to follow him on Instagram to see more of his beautiful flies.
Pasi also has a YouTube channel where he has posted several fly tying videos on how he ties his Pupa style flies.

Name: Pasi Järvinen
Location: Ylöjärvi, Western Finland
Family: Wife, two children and a dog.

Fly fishing is more than a hobby for me. In fly fishing, I like its diversity. I fish with different techniques, but I like streamer fishing the most.

Fly tying plays a big role. I bought my first tying vise around 2006-07 but the start was tricky and it laid in storage for a few years before I gave it a second chance. Ever since, I have tied all my flies.

I like the challenge of tying realistic patterns, but mostly I tie just basic fishing flies for my own needs. I always design my patterns well and try to find the best possible materials for the purpose.

I like the fact that Fly tying is continuous learning. It’s nice to pass on the knowledge and be inspired by what others do.
My number one target fish is brown trout, but I also like to fish for big northern grayling, and sometimes salmon and pike.
