Metolius IV – Green Drake Parachute. This fly tying vidieo shows how Jay Nicholas once tied his Green Drake Parachute to fish back in the 1960s through 1980s. Jay tells some stories about the fishery back then.

Materials list:

Thread: Various to suit your needs, generally fine
Hook: 3XL fine wire dry fly hook – uses size 8 here.
Tail: I prefer to use bucktail as in the original
Post: Calf Tail is traditional but optional
Body: Green dubbing to match tyer’s creativity
Rib: Medium gold oval tinsel (this is important)
Hackle: Very large and dense, brown and grizzly
Head: Grey thread or dubbing (grey or green)
