Svend Diesel ties with the new SwissCDC Multi Loop Tool. He offers his initial thoughts on the tool after using it. Here is what Svend had to say:
“Just got the new SwissCDC multi loop tool and figured for my 3rd bug I would do a Youtube Live with my first impressions. There are always pros and cons to all tools and in this live feed I use the tool making a dubbing loop for a balanced leech using zero gravity dubbing. As with any new tool or technique, it takes a few dozen to many dozen bugs to truly evaluate the tool. Overall first impressions is this is going to be a very awesome tool.”
What is the purpose of the bead on a needle for the Balance Leaches instead of using a slotted bead? I have never seen this trick.
I think the main reason for using the extended bead head is to create a longer shank to better initiate a leech. I have played with simplifying the balanced leech as you are doing as well by simply adding a slotted bead to a jig hook, which is much quicker. The results this year for for me and the couple guys I fish wish proved that we had more hookups on the extended head as shown in the video, but I also had bigger fish on the shorter 45 degree slotted leech. I will keep tying both versions for now but there could also be something to the degree of availability of slotted beads and colors until recent years so the extended pin head was the only way to do that. But you’d have to ask someone who has been tying longer than I have because they have been available since I started.
Wonderful web site. Plenty of helpful information here.
I am sending it to a few friends ans also sharing in delicious.
And obviously, thank you on your effort!
Thank you, I appreciate it!
