Polyphaetis Nymph – Andy Saunders

This is a nymph designed to ride hook point up to avoid snagging, but still be able to get the fly down deep into the water column.
Andy shows us how to tie this type of a nymph because it uses a unique technique of tying in the bead.

This is a very effective nymph pattern that I was introduced to by my friend and guide Jonathan Barnes of Onstream Guide in 2015 during a fantastic 2 days of fishing with him on some beautiful Yorkshire streams in the UK. It works extremely well as point fly during a caddis hatch but also qualifies as an excellent all-around searching pattern..
