The Michigan Caddis (that’s not actually a caddis)

From Matt O’Neal of Savage Flies:
“Featured in Eric Leiser’s 1987 “Book of Fly Patterns,” this Michigan Caddis is actually an imitation of the huge Michigan hexagenia mayfly (spinner version). It’s not a quick tie, and can be challenging to get deer hair spun on a small dry fly, but it has been a very popular fly with Michiganders when the “Great Hex” hatch takes place in June and July.”

Materials list:
Hook: #6-10 dry fly (standard length)
Thread: Black
Tail: Natural deer hair
Body: Spun deer hair
Hackle: Grizzly
Wings: Grizzly hen tips, tied spent.
