Winter Squirrel Bug by Mak

Super simple squirrel nymph.
You could tie a ton of these up in no time.
You really don’t need much or any flash in the squirrel dubbing with that tinsel showing through, that would give you enough flash. So keep that in mind.

Bead: 2.8 Tungsten Bead Pink
Thread: 6/0 Red thread
Rib: Holographic Tinsel
Body: Squirrel dubbing – with a little flash.

    This is, quite simply, an outstanding nymph pattern. I know because I used its first cousin (my rat/squirrel nymph; muskrat and squirrel mixed) for many years as my go to upstream pocket nymphing fly. Absolutely deadly.
